Meet Alejandro

Born in Lima, Perú, but now a seasoned Londoner, Alejandro’s around the world pastry journey started in Italy in 1996. He traveled to Bologna to perfect his baking techniques. While studying, he started working at the historic and oldest bakery in the city “Pasticceria Gamberini dal 1907”. After finessing and mastering his know-how on traditional Italian pastries, he was hired as Head Pastry Chef at "Colazione da Bianca”, a not-to-be-missed cafe showcased in The NY Times article “36 hours in Bologna”

In 2013 he decide to leave Italy for New York, attending the prestigious ICC, getting a diploma in “Cake Techniques and Design”. While there, he was appointed Head Pastry Chef , creating an all Italian pastries menu for CRAVE.IT, an Italian bakery-gelateria in Chelsea.

By 2015 he decided to try luck in London, where he always felt a special connection with its vibrant multicultural scene. Working for a series of 5-star hotels like The Connaught, Corinthia, Ritz, Claridges and part of the pastry brigade for Ottolenghi and the world-famous bakery at Harrods.

All this experience and years in pastry kitchens worldwide refined his innate keen eye for detail and multicultural flavor combinations. Working during the day and refining his own recipes by night, what began as “cake for friends” became “treats for friends of friends of friends”, and that’s how The Muffin Man Soho came to life.
